Three Months

Weight: 15 lbs and 2 oz

Health: Happy and healthy!  He has a clogged tear duct that acts up once and a while.

Sleep: Still going down most nights around 9pm after his bedtime routine.  This month was a break through and James Robert has very consistently been sleeping through the night!  He usually wakes up between 6:30-7am cooing in his crib.   

Social: James Robert has become very alert and loves meeting new people.  Going new places has become a fun adventure as he greets many new voices and places with smiles and wide eyes.  He loves going on play dates with his neighbor Harry!

Diet: Eating very regularly on schedule, like a champ! 

Clothes: Still size 2 diapers, but solidly in 3 month clothing.  As evidenced by the picture above, he likes it better when Mommy dresses him than Daddy.  

Baby Gear:  Here is a collage of his favorites from this month:

1) Our pack'n play has a play mat that is detachable and a mobile that keeps JR totally occupied 
2) Bibs are necessity these days with the extra drool and spit up; this one from Three Martha's is a favorite
3) Lots of links has so many different functions; right now I use them to create mobiles with different items
4) As we are getting out and about more, I have had to nurse on the go a few times.  I LOVE this nursing shawl that doubles and a cape, swaddle blanket and scarf.  It is made of the softest bamboo. 
5) We read this book before naps and bed; the message is so sweet
6) Our Beaufort Bonnet britches are a hot weather staple and so adorable
7) This little toy has stopped many meltdowns
8) Mirrors are a favorite
9) I love getting the free emails from productive parenting with fun playtime activities tailored to James Robert's age.

Crying: We've discovered a hot James Robert is a very crabby boy...other than that, he really is a happy camper.  

Likes: Mirrors!  He loves to look into the mirror and smile.  James Robert has also started babbling and loves to have "conversations" with his Momma and Dad.  His animal mobile and play mat are favorites too. 

Milestones:  His neck control is getting better and better everyday!  At 12 weeks, he is able to sit in his bumbo with no head support.  James Robert has also discovered that if he kicks in his bunny seat, the whole thing bounces!

Just catching up on some summer reading in my Hanna's. 

First Mother's Day

My first Mother's Day was a special occasion.  I was spoiled with a delicious breakfast and dinner, a day in the park and quality time with my boys.  So thankful that James Robert is my reason to celebrate!

Happy Birthday Gram

Today, I'm remembering my Gram; she would have been 93 on this day.

Her life inspires me.  Her love still touches me.  Her characteristics are mirrored in my own.  Her picture reminds me of the beauty that endures when someone you cherish lives in your heart.

My Gram always joked that she thought I would have a house full of little boys.  With James Robert now in my life, it makes me smile to think she is looking down and happy.  To know that our son now has a Gram too is beyond special.

Tummy time with Gram and Grandpa Gerber was a daily activity when they stayed in Charlotte.  We miss having them here to play with!

Two Months

Weight: We find out next Wednesday at his wellness visit; I'm guessing at least 13 lbs

Health: Since fighting off his first cold and broncholitis, he has been feeling great with just a few sniffles

Sleep: This month sleep has become more consistant. Most nights, James Robert goes down around 9pm and sleeps until 2 or 3. One night he slept through until 6am and we're hoping he gets the hang of that!

Social: James Robert loved meeting his Aunt Kristen, Uncle Ben and cousin Kate this month. He also loved that Nana and Grandpa Leanderson came back to visit for Mat's birthday.  Because he was sick we didn't have many outings or play dates, but he played with Gram and Grandpa Gerber almost everyday when they were in town!

Diet: Still eating like a champ.

Clothes: This month he moved solidly into 0-3 clothes and now wears some 3 month onsies and bottoms. At the end of the month he moved into size 2 diapers to avoid the insane blowouts we were having.

Baby Gear:  I put together a collage of our favorite things. I hope to remember what we loved and be able to pass that along to friends, so this will help:

1) The swing! Thank god for that swing!
2) We discovered he loves these pacifiers best
3) The halo sleepsack makes swaddling with his arms out easy and gives him room to kick his feet
4) Jacque the peacock is his favorite
5) Kicky Pants are the softest PJs
6) Honest baby body wash and shampoo has been our favorite so far
7) With the weather being so variable, we use a lot of blankets.  Our Zebi one is a favorite and gets lots of compliments
8) Sleep sheep is a must
9) After he got sick, we've used the humidifier non stop. We got a cheap one from Target, but I think these are insanely cute for a nursery and would make a great gift

Crying: For the most part, James Robert, is a happy little guy. However, when he gets mad, he gets really, really  mad.

Likes: Tummy time, taking walks around the neighborhood, hearing himself talk and jam sessions with  his Daddy and Major.

Milestones:  At 7 weeks old James Robert turned over from his belly to his back!  He loves tummy time and holds his head up longer and longer.  He is now tracking moving objects and loves to "talk" with family.  Gram is especially good at getting a huge smile and noises out of him.

Sweet Dreams

We may not be sleeping through the night consistently yet, but I think we've found the perfect bedtime routine.  After bath time, I savor the 3 minutes of this song while I rock him and gaze at his heart-melting face.  Sending James Robert off to dreamland, even if it is only for a few hours, feels so much sweeter.
