Four Months

Weight: We're guessing 16.5 lbs... at least!

Health: Healthy and happy!

Sleep:  James Robert now goes to bed between 7-8pm every night after enjoying bath time.  Most days he sleeps until 6-7am (alleluia!)  We are struggling with nap time being consistent and he's very stubborn about sleeping in his swing during the day...  

Social: James Robert loves going on outings and flourishes when he has lots of new people to meet.  This month we discovered that he is very ticklish and we've done everything possible to elicit his adorable belly laughs!

Diet: Corresponding with a seemingly overnight growth spurt, James Robert has been eating a ton this month.  Mommy is working her hardest to keep up!  

Clothes:   Still in size 2 diapers, but most 0-3 clothes are getting tight.  Size 3 month in most onsies still fit, but most smocking and shorts are 6mo+.  The above fedora has become his go-to accessory... he has a ball every time we put it on. 

Baby Gear:  Here are some of our favorites from this month:

1) BabyErgo is perfect for taking walks with James Robert, I love having him close and watching him taking everything in

2) Naps don't happen these days without his lovey

3) Dr Brown's bottles have become our preference as James Robert is taking bottles during the day

4) Fisher price piano mat is such a great interactive toy with lots of options. I love that it keeps James Robert occupied for tummy time, playing with the things hanging above him and allows him to kick the piano too.  When he can sit up, the piano rotates for more play. 

5) Books, books and more books.  This one  is a favorite

6) The fish that came with our whale tub makes bath time so entertaining; James Robert LOVEs it

7) This bath towel makes me smile every night (we got ours as a gift, similar here)

8)His little baby fedora is quite possibly the most adorable baby boy accessory

Crying: Mostly happy, but when the lower lip starts sticking out....look out!

Likes:  James Robert is hardly able to keep his hands out of his mouth. He loves to such on his fingers and hand (doctors said he did this in utero).  He also loves reading books, kicking, practicing sitting up, dancing with momma and his nanny, Erin.  Perhaps funniest anecdote this month is his affinity for our Katie Lee cookbook.  There have been many fits calmed by letting him look at her book- so funny!

Milestones:  This month, Momma went back to work.  It has been an adjustment for everyone.  But the good news is that James Robert loves his nanny, Erin.  Another milestone was his first visit to the pool and hearing him belly laugh.

Cousins

I had to save a separate post for this cuteness.  Kate came to visit for James Robert's baptism and was such a sweetheart-- she loved holding baby James and giving him kisses.

James Robert's Baptism

Basking in the spotlight, James Robert makes his debut about 6 minutes into the video of today's service. Perhaps reminiscent of bath time, he cooed with delight as Pastor Chris blessed him with holy water.  It was incredibly special to have our families help us celebrate this sacrament.

Wishing a happy first Father's Day to Mat. It has been remarkable watching you become a father to James Robert.

Three Months

Weight: 15 lbs and 2 oz

Health: Happy and healthy!  He has a clogged tear duct that acts up once and a while.

Sleep: Still going down most nights around 9pm after his bedtime routine.  This month was a break through and James Robert has very consistently been sleeping through the night!  He usually wakes up between 6:30-7am cooing in his crib.   

Social: James Robert has become very alert and loves meeting new people.  Going new places has become a fun adventure as he greets many new voices and places with smiles and wide eyes.  He loves going on play dates with his neighbor Harry!

Diet: Eating very regularly on schedule, like a champ! 

Clothes: Still size 2 diapers, but solidly in 3 month clothing.  As evidenced by the picture above, he likes it better when Mommy dresses him than Daddy.  

Baby Gear:  Here is a collage of his favorites from this month:

1) Our pack'n play has a play mat that is detachable and a mobile that keeps JR totally occupied 
2) Bibs are necessity these days with the extra drool and spit up; this one from Three Martha's is a favorite
3) Lots of links has so many different functions; right now I use them to create mobiles with different items
4) As we are getting out and about more, I have had to nurse on the go a few times.  I LOVE this nursing shawl that doubles and a cape, swaddle blanket and scarf.  It is made of the softest bamboo. 
5) We read this book before naps and bed; the message is so sweet
6) Our Beaufort Bonnet britches are a hot weather staple and so adorable
7) This little toy has stopped many meltdowns
8) Mirrors are a favorite
9) I love getting the free emails from productive parenting with fun playtime activities tailored to James Robert's age.

Crying: We've discovered a hot James Robert is a very crabby boy...other than that, he really is a happy camper.  

Likes: Mirrors!  He loves to look into the mirror and smile.  James Robert has also started babbling and loves to have "conversations" with his Momma and Dad.  His animal mobile and play mat are favorites too. 

Milestones:  His neck control is getting better and better everyday!  At 12 weeks, he is able to sit in his bumbo with no head support.  James Robert has also discovered that if he kicks in his bunny seat, the whole thing bounces!
